Why SMART Green Gardening?

Smart Green Garden simply adopt, practice, and advocate the principles of regenerative, sustainable, environment-friendly, and people-centered gardening.

Let's review the key words that are interrelated with each other.

  • Regenerative agriculture is a holistic land-management practice that uses the power of photosynthesis in plants to sequester carbon in the soil while improving soil health, crop yields, water resilience, and nutrient density (www.greenamerica.org and regenerationinernational.org).
  • Sustainable gardening is the concept of using gardening practices that do no harm to the earth and its inhabitants while attempting to enhance it. By practicing sustainable gardening, you practice good environmental stewardship. It gives hope to future generation by showing them that growing food or creating a new garden does not have to mean harming the environment through the use of pesticides and chemicals
  • Green means environment-friendly. Green planting, healthy living
  • People-centered  refers to our core belief of focusing on the needs of each person as basis for providing a highly customized type of support.

SMART stands for Simple, Micro, Adaptable, Resourceful, and Time-bound.

We'll make Kitchen gardening easy for you, removing your overwhelm, confusion, and frustration by using the SMART method, namely:

1. Start simple by identifying and growing the food that you and your family loves to eat. You don't need a big area to grow your own food when you have a limited space.

2. If you're a beginner in gardening, grow in a micro space like a square foot area, or in containers and in your patio.

3. You will also be guided which plants are adaptable on your location on what season. Knowing ones geographic area's seasons - cold, cool, warm, and hot temperatures are crucial  in gardening. It can save you time and resources once you got the right timing.

4. You'll learn how to be resourceful in many ways when you regenerate your soil as you go along your gardening journey.  The practice of composting and organic gardening will teach you how to be resourceful and creative.

5. Time-bound refers to planting seasons and the crops that can be planted with it. Planting the right crop in the right weather and climatic condition makes gardening easier. Being aware of what to grow indoors and outdoors using seeds and seedlings are critical considerations. Managing your time well given your tasks fall under here too. Garden planning is so important.
